Park Place Mall is searching for an artist for our new outdoor mural project.

Park Place Mall’s Mural Art Project

Park Place Mall is excited to announce a call for artists for an exterior mural project.

Through Park Place Mall’s Call for Artists, we invite all artists to apply for the opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind, high-visibility outdoor mural. Reflecting the spirit of Southern Arizona and Park Place Mall, we encourage applications that inspire and celebrate the Southwestern Culture of Park Place Mall.

An artist or artist team who can (1) demonstrate artistic excellence, (2) complete the project in a realistic timeframe, and (3) have experience with large scale artwork, are encouraged to apply. All applicants must be at least 18 years of age and currently reside in Southern Arizona.

Submissions should present a design that is compelling and relevant throughout the year and across all day and night hour lighting. Artist agrees to grant Park Place Mall the right to photograph, video or record the likeness of the mural for use by television, films, radio, printed media, etc. to further the aims of any Park Place activity. We encourage photographing, filming, social media sharing and the use of #visitparkplace.

Click on the Mural Application button and complete the form on the next page.

  • All fields of the application must be submitted online, in digital format only. Mailed applications will not be considered. Renderings should be at-scale and may be completed digitally or drawn by-hand and scanned. Final renderings may be sent as a link in the application or sent via email to info@parkplacemall.com
  • Estimated budget should be included in the application and should be all-inclusive and account for all anticipated artist fees, supplies and materials, travel-related expenses and any other associated costs, including insurance and maintenance plan
  • In addition to a scaled design of the mural proposed, a brief written narrative articulating the illustrated concept is required for each submission. Your application must be thoughtful—please include detailed information envisioning your concept, type[s] of materials and their specifications; research-informed estimate of your time and material cost[s]; and a projected timeline for the project’s completion.
  • Supporting materials, such as link(s) to your artist website, online portfolio, or links to images of past work, projects, press/media, and other applicable information is required. Samples of previous public artwork[s] and projects should cite the date, size, medium, location and budget, as applicable. Visual references to previous projects or collaborations are required; personal recommendations are not essential but helpful.
  • The deadline for artist application submissions is Thursday, May 23, 2024.
  • Final Artist will be selected once the committee has reviewed the applications and has made their final decision. All artists will be notified in a timely manner.
Artists will retain all ownership of their artwork and any design ideas incorporated within this application at the time of submission. Upon selecting an artist or artist team, a contract will be executed and signed by the artist and Park Place Mall. At the time a contract is awarded, the ownership of the design and the artwork produced, in this case the public/private art mural project, will become the property of Park Place Mall. Thoughtful consideration and various perspectives will be solicited to discuss and determine which artist candidate(s) best meet the Park Place Mall mural project goals and objectives. The final selections will be made by a small committee comprised of members representing Park Place Mall. Financial compensation and insurance for completion of the mural will be executed in accordance with the agreed upon contract between the artist(s) and the center.
